History of Thai Food

The history of Thailand refers to the beginning of the first century , when the Chinese Han Dynasty ruled . At that time , a tribe called T'ai occupied part of southern China through major trade routes between east and west . Over the centuries , the T'ai maintained a relationship at once close and war with the Chinese and began to migrate southward , the current position of Thailand , near the border with Laos and Cambodia .
The T'ai created a kingdom known as Sukhothai , an independent kingdom from China which later became known as the Kingdom of Zion on its strategic position within the sea, the kingdom received ships docked in its ports from Europe or even Japan with them they brought foreign goods and often venturing by Thai rivers , introduced these spices and delicacies in local people , who in turn offered their typical products . Thus began the foreign influence in Thai food, as well as the spread of Thai food worldwide .
But were the Portuguese in the sixteenth century that introduced an icon of Thai food , pepper . The climate and the facilities and quality of land , was a plant that was born and grew strong and beautiful every month of the year. So widespread was the local cuisine , which married his acids , sweet and savory flavors .
By being in a strategic point of trade routes , the Thai had a very cordial business relationship with Indian people and Arabs , which facilitated the entry of many of these items in their culinary habits . And with all this diversity and the creation of the independent state of Thailand in 1932 , the Thai people have become a cheerful , independent, creative , passionate and proud of their origins . Your love for life is evident in how they bring pleasure to their forms of entertainment and food. Love to eat anytime of the day and principamente the streets . It is there that the real Thai food translates . Small vendors are placed on the streets to offer typical Thai dishes like drunken noodles or nasi goreng .
The Thais eat with chopsticks , so their food portions are sized to be able to be eaten without cutting or separating . In a past , Thai cuisine was mostly cooked , roasted and grilled . With China's influence , techniques such as stir fry and deep fry were adapted by introducing Wok in Thai cuisine .
The India collaborated with the development of curries , which in Thailand created a particular way of being prepared . Instead of a turmeric -based powder , Thai use a binder, based on fresh ground pepper with various spices . Incidentally , pepper , brought by the Portuguese in America, found an ideal wedding with fresh spices like lemongrass , galangal the , ginger, tamarind , coriander , lemon, kafir lime, among others . It is this combination that makes the intense , unique Thai curry.
